Join our October general meeting to hear author Mary Hawkins describe how fundamental changes in Canada’s health care system are affecting patient care and explain how to talk about your concerns with your doctor. Hear practical tips and learn from real-life scenarios how to explain your condition, advocate for solutions, speak on behalf of a child, and more.

Mary Hawkins is a writer, public speaker and workshop facilitator with expertise in health communication. She has written five books, including Health Talk: How to Communicate with Your Doctor (Macmillan Canada, 2020) and Talk to Your Doc: The Patient’s Guide (Self-Counsel Press, 2015). She is an experienced communications consultant in Ottawa and has taught communication skills at the University of Ottawa and Algonquin College. Hawkins is well-informed about health care in Ontario and a persistent advocate for good doctor-patient relations.
