Cycle Ride Squad

A LITTLE FASTER A LITTLE FURTHER This year we would like to introduce a 2nd Cycle Group.
The difference in this group ride is:
LENGTH - 25-60km,
SPEED 17-22km on average,
LOCATION - We will ride on roads with shoulders like Rideau Ferry Road and Old Kingston Road & quiet country roads and paths.
LUNCH - Occasionally we will stop for lunch or maybe tailgate at the end of the ride or stop for coffee during the ride. This depends on where the ride is.
TIME - We will meet Tuesday mornings at 9:30 at various starting points and get some exercise while riding through this lovely part of the country. You are welcome to join both cycle groups and decide which ride you wish to do on a weekly basis. The biggest difference will be the distance and speed. Hope to see you on a ride.

Cycling Sisters

This cycling group is now in our fifth year where we enjoy weekly recreational cycle excursions of approximately 20-25 kilometres. Preferably on paved bicycle paths or quiet country roads, but also on cinder or rail trails or wherever a path might lead us. For planning, we normally meet on Tuesdays before 10 and cycle for approximately 90 minutes. However, we’re a flexible group and we sometimes adjust the time due to weather or the day due to special circumstances. Often lunch is in a quaint small town restaurant, or where one is unavailable, we pack a picnic lunch to enjoy the view and company. Or we might plan a pot luck or BBQ. We normally start in May once the weather is warmer and cycle until October or November depending upon conditions. Participants take turns finding the road less travelled and leading us on a new adventure each week. Come join us!

If you love to walk your dog and you enjoy some friendly conversation, this group is for you! We will meet on a variety of trails which will vary in terrain. Some locations will offer off leash activity for your dog whereas others will require that your dog be leashed. Dogs must nonaggressive and either have good recall or be leashed at all times. Walk locations will be announced in advance and will take place on Wednesday afternoons at 1pm for a length of 1 to 2 hours. Starts September 17 and runs weekly till end of April. This is a great way to enjoy the outdoors with others while you and your dog both get some fresh air and exercise!

Downhill Ski and Snowboard Group

Attention all skiers and snowboarders... Let's hope for snow so we can go hit the slopes! This is a new offering for the winter 2025-2026. Weather permitting, members will meet weekly at one of the following clubs: Calabogie, Pakenham or Camp Fortune for a half or full day on the slopes. Shared driving can be arranged for those who prefer to travel with others. Lift tickets will be purchased by each member at the regular price. Rental equipment is available at all three locations for those who need it. The group may ski/board together or split up to find runs that suit their skill level, meeting indoors to warm up, re-fuel and re-hydrate.

Fibre Arts (formally Stitching)

It would be fun to have a group that is somewhat expanded to include different fibre arts, (there are lots of them!). So could include spinning, weaving, felting (wet, needle etc), embroidery, knitting, crochet, tatting and lacework..just to name a few. In addition to getting together to work on projects we could share expertise in some of the other fibre arts, perhaps go on outings to textile museum or participate in local workshops when offered on felting and dyeing, perhaps work on group projects for charity knitting or fundraisers. The group could include all levels of expertise including those who want to learn for example to knit or crochet.
