Dust off the old board games lurking in your closet. Or choose a card game. Something new each month, with rotating hostesses choosing the games and providing light snacks and beverages. Need at least 4 people. Day and time TBD. Meets monthly.
Book Club — Day & Evening
CFUW Perth & District currently has four daytime book clubs and one evening club. Members meet monthly in rotating homes for snacks and a lively discussion about their selected novel.
Book Club — Mystery and Others
This Book Club will be held the first Monday of each month at 1:00 pm. These meetings are held in member’s homes according to the schedule. We currently have eight (8) members. Maximum capacity is 10 with 2 spares.
Book Club—Laid Back Mystery Club
Our Book Club meets randomly, subject to members’ schedules, but we usually try to do it at least every 6 weeks. We have afternoon meetings rotating in member’s homes from 1 to 3. Refreshments vary, depending on the whim of the hostess. We will try to start out the season with a few suggested books for the year but are prepared to digress if something else that seems more interesting comes up. Nothing rigid about this group.
The Bridge and Luncheon Group starts at 11:30 am with social interaction time followed by a delicious lunch provided by the host member and then followed by three rounds of bridge. Presently, there are 8 members. All skill levels are welcome. Players must be fully vaccinated. We currently need spares. If there is enough interest, a second group can be started. (All members must be fully vaccinated against Covid 19.)
Social Bridge is an informal and great way to spend an afternoon. All levels welcome. We play on alternate weeks, with members hosting a table in rotation. A light snack is usually served. Depending on numbers, there may be multiple tables per session in different people’s home. As an alternative to meeting in person, a group can choose to play remotely via BBO. Players must be fully vaccinated to participate in person.
Business/Working Women's Dinner Club
Join a group of working women to share experiences, network, talk about communications, human resources, social media. Meet monthly at a different local restaurant and let yourself be supported as you hash out the pros/challenges of being a professional women in our community. Fellow CFUW women who run, manage or work for local businesses can offer a supportive community forum. Members will take turns coordinating the restaurant reservation and any items that might be determined as topics for ongoing discussions.
Come join a cycling group to ride trails, cottage roads and as little highway as possible (only if there is a hard shoulder to ride on). Areas can vary from Murphy’s Point, Smiths Falls, Carleton Place, Almonte ….trails including the Trans Canada Trails; also some of our favourite paths through Ottawa and Gatineau. This summer we had a fabulous day cycling 1000 Islands with lunch at Ivy League Marina and an overnight in Cornwall Waterfront trails. We meet Tuesday mornings @10.00 weather permitting and some possible changes for special locations.
This group meets in dog-friendly locations to walk dogs and socialize.
Voulez-vous parler avec nous? Members already have a working knowledge of French, and welcome opportunities to improve their fluency in the language.
Coming next spring! Meet for 9 holes in the morning of a day of your choice. Many local golf courses to explore.
Do you love good food, wine and conversation? Open to couples of all descriptions, our dinner parties of groups of 8 are usually held the second Saturday of each month, starting at 6:00 pm. Four course meals are planned ahead, often with an exciting theme, recipes are shared, the hosts set a lovely table and we gather to eat. You are only limited by your imagination. All costs are shared. We may be called the ‘Gourmet Club’ but it’s really all about yummy food shared with CFUW friends. Traditionally, there is a Christmas Hors d’oeuvres party and in June there is a BBQ where the club members’ partners do all the cooking.
