Youth Homelessness: A Hidden Epidemic
Youth homelessness is often invisible. Homeless youth are between the ages of 13 and 24. They are living on their own, away from parents or caregivers, without the means or ability to secure safe, stable, and consistent housing.
With nowhere else to turn, many young people end up couch surfing or sleeping in parks, cars, or abandoned buildings.
Homelessness is never a choice. Family conflict, violence, abuse, and other complex social challenges are just some of the factors that force youth from their homes.

Youth Homelessness in Lanark County
Youth homelessness is not just a big-city problem. It is a growing reality in rural communities as well. In Lanark County, the number of youth experiencing homelessness has increased by over 300% since 2023.
Supporting Youth in Lanark County
Cornerstone Landing Youth Services is a non-profit charitable organization dedicated to supporting youth experiencing homelessness across Lanark County. As the only agency in the county focused solely on preventing, reducing, and ending youth homelessness, Cornerstone Landing works to create safe, stable housing options for vulnerable young people.

The Coldest Night of the Year (CNOY)
CNOY is a national event where tens of thousands of Canadians step outside the warmth and comfort of home to shine a light of compassion in their communities.
Since 2011, the Coldest Night of the Year has raised over $70 million in support of 182 communities and charity partners serving families, youth, and adults experiencing hurt, hunger, and homelessness across Canada.
100% of net proceeds stay local to support participating charity partners.
Last year, CFUW Perth & District raised more than $7,000 to support homeless youth in Lanark County.
This year’s goal is $8,200.
